Musician.
With over 15 years experience as a pianist and keyboardist, Akash Dutta has a rich background in contemporary and classical musical styles. Trained at the prestigious New Zealand School of Music, Akash holds a Bachelor of Music (BMusHons) in Jazz Performance (specialization in Piano), graduating with First Class Honours in 2022
In addition to piano, Akash is a skilled percussionist having played in the Tauranga Boys’ College Big Band - winning awards in various intermural competitions. He also has experience playing traditional Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian percussion instruments, a common feature in his compositions.
Composer
An accomplished composer, Akash’s original works span a wide range of genres, from works for solo piano, compositions for radio dramas, and film soundtracks to his name. From original music for Radio New Zealand to his 2020 solo album Tales of a Traveller, Akash has a wide range of tools at his disposal to suit your compositional needs. Educator
As a certified instructor for the New Zealand Modern School of Music, Akash Dutta has been involved in various aspects of musical education and pedagogy since 2014. With experience teaching students of all ages, he has developed a modern approach to music tuition which is engaging and takes into account constantly changing trends in contemporary music. Additionally he has been involved in developing bespoke workshop classes with Buddhi International School in Bangalore, India, training the next generation of musicians across continents.
